This page describes how to install and set up the program called CuteFTP so that you can upload your website files from your own computer on to our internet server, once completed your webpages will be available to the world (unless password protected).
We do not support the installation and use of CuteFTP but we tell you where to get the program and where to find technical support on its installation.
When you have installed CuteFTP, you need to run and configure it to link to your directory on our internet servers. When you run it, it will launch to the FTP Site Manager. Click on the "Add Folder" button and then enter your domain name as the folder name and click OK.
This will add a new folder labelled with your domain name. Click once on this folder to highlight it and then click on the "Add site" button.
Fill your details as below into the FTP Site Edit box. The sections you need to fill in are marked in red.

You should enter your domain name into the Site Label section. In the Host address box you should put your domain name preceded by ftp. eg if the main domain name you own is called yourchosenname.co.uk then you should enter ftp.yourchosenname.co.uk in the box. (If you have many domain names you will need to use the Add Sites to create several profiles only if they are pointing to different webpages. If they are all pointing to the same set of webpages then you only need to create one profile.)
You need to put the login name we provide you with in the space called User ID, with the password in the Password section and you should place the location where your website can be found on your computer in the Initial Local Directory box. Once you have done this click on OK. This will add a new site into the folder with your domain name.
To connect to this new site, select it from the list and and click on the "Connect" button. If you are not already connected to your normal internet access provider, Windows will bring up the normal connect box at this point, type in your details and connect to the internet. Once you are connected to the internet, CuteFTP will connect to our server, when it has finished it brings up a confirmation login message that should look like the one below.
Once you have logged into your webspace you are ready to upload your files. CuteFTP provides a standard "drag and drop" interface which can be navigated in similar way to Windows Explorer. In the left hand pane are the files on your computer (your local files) and in the right pane are the files in your webspace directory (called your remote files). Simply click on a file you want to move and drag and drop it in the desired location.
Please note that CuteFTP does not upload sub-directories, so you have to copy from one directory at a time. Note there is a useful right mouse button menu to help you create directory structures on your remote site.
Please contact CuteFTP if you have any questions on how to use their software. Note that we can only provide support on the configuration details. We do not provide support on the actual use of the program.
